Default BattleField 2142, Another EA ripoff?

Anyone here buying/getting BF2142 supposely relased today?

Personally i am not a fan of FPS in general but was thinking of getting it due to the the hype then i remember that there was some EA hate going on and decided to do some research on the internet and came up with these:

wiki description of EA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EA

An example of EA employment abuse policy: http://ea-spouse.livejournal.com/274.html

Funny thing is players who bought it online have to wait til wed to play while those who bought retail can only play it online some time tomorrow noonish. Many have been complaining that its feels like a polished mod of BF2 rather than a new interesting game which is typical of EA.

Two MMOG published by Electronic Arts are still operating today:

The Sims Online: had 105,000 users at peak[8]
Ultima Online: had 250,000 subscribers at peak worldwide, with about 70,000 of those in Japan[9]. It was developed by Origin Systems but the studio was disbanded by Electronic Arts.

On June 20, 2006, EA purchased Mythic Entertainment, currently developing Warhammer Online.
Was looking forward to Warhammer online, but looks like its another title down the drain with EA pulling the strings.

Sad.

Edit: I have decided to boycott all future EA titles.

I was suppose to pick up my copy (preordered from gamestop by my house) today but I decided to cancel after playing the demo.

EA has no respect for their customers. My friend ordered the Armored Fury expansion online (only way to get it) for BF2 and he was unable to install the EA Downloader because the downloader was missing files. He contacted EA and they told him to try again. He tried again and it didnt work. They took down his Direct X info and never contacted him again. Basicly he was screwed out of $10 dollars. How many people do you think this happened to? (lets just say a lot).

EA is just not being professional anymore. And to say the least, I hate the hovertank.

My next LAN party scheduled 10/28 will be running BF2142, and probably a bit of Nightfall. However, if EA's product is too crappy to run on most of our PC's, we'll probably choose another FPS title to play.

Hey lord, use either Call of Duty 2, Battlefield 2 or something else.. maybe Splinter Cell?

As for this new Battlefield game, i might not be getting it since one thing, i hate their stupid long download patch. Not to mention sometime the game isn't balance enough. Remember those freaking sniper rifle in Battlefield 2? You can't do shit with it to kill peoples with a headshot. The second thing is that i'm saving cash for PS3 and games for it not to mention Nightfall CE, which is coming out in .. about a week.

We've done Quake4, BF2, CSS, Fear, CS, and a couple of other titles. We'll have to see how everything turns out with BF2142. I'm guessing that our LAN party host will try to obtain all required patches and share it locally if possible.

try out the demo before purchasing imo.

I've hosted bf2, cs, and gw lan parties at my house already. fun stuff.

CoD 3 is going to be amazing though (hope its not a big letdown).

It's like MoH:PA all over again, great game design, some bugs, quick fix, but afterwards, they drop all support.

I'm definately not buying BF2142. I loved 1942, and i bought Battlefield 2. It is a great game, but 1942 is better.
I love the Command & Conquer series, but i hate that EA bought Westwood.
